We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to improve dot.energy. Nothing is collected until you choose. Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 9, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the dot.energy solar simulation platform ("Platform"), operated by dot.energy ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Platform. By registering, you represent that you meet this requirement.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized access to your account. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from your account settings — deletion is immediate and permanent.
You agree not to:
The Platform provides solar energy simulations based on publicly available meteorological data, user-provided system parameters, and industry-standard models. These results are estimates only and are intended for informational and planning purposes. They do not constitute professional engineering advice.
Actual solar production, savings, and payback periods will vary based on factors including but not limited to: installation quality, shading, equipment degradation, utility rate changes, and local incentive availability. We make no warranty, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose of any simulation output.
The Platform — including its software, design, and component database — is owned by dot.energy and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of any project data and simulation configurations you create. You grant us a limited license to store and process that data to provide the Platform's services.
When you generate a shareable report link, you make that report publicly accessible to anyone with the link. Do not share reports containing sensitive information you wish to keep private. You can stop sharing a report by deleting the associated project variant.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, dot.energy shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost savings, or financial decisions made in reliance on simulation results — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Platform. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which, for free-tier users, is zero).
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless dot.energy and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your use of the Platform.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or are using the Platform in a way that may harm us or other users. You may also terminate your account at any time.
We may update these Terms as the Platform evolves. We will post the updated Terms here with a new effective date. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Texas.
