In the City of Arlington you pull a city permit before installing rooftop solar, then request interconnection from Oncor. Arlington has streamlined its solar process.

Permits you’ll need

Arlington streamlined solar to a single permit (instead of separate building and electrical permits). Both a Building Final and an Electrical Final inspection close it out.

How to submit

Apply online through Arlington’s Accela permits portal. Your installer needs active New Home Builder/Remodeler and Electrical Contractor registrations with the city (solar contractor registration updated March 2024).

Fees & timeline

Fees vary by system; confirm current amounts with Planning & Development Services (817-459-6502).

Outside city limits

In unincorporated Tarrant County or a neighboring DFW city, you permit through that jurisdiction instead.

Permit in hand? The next step is requesting grid interconnection from Oncor — see its rates, buyback, fees, and application links. Or go back to the full Texas solar guide.
