Permits you’ll need

A building permit and an electrical permit for a rooftop system. Systems 10 kW and larger get standard plan review and typically need a professional-engineer (PE) stamp on the plans.

How to submit

Apply online through Fort Worth’s Accela Citizen Access portal, or in person at Development Services. Larger systems may need simple drawings.

Fees & timeline

Electrical permit fees typically run about $75–$400, with roughly a 1–3 week turnaround.

Outside city limits

In unincorporated Tarrant County or another DFW city, you permit through that jurisdiction instead.
